Philips Rolls Out Flash 5100 POC Point-of-Care Ultrasound

Philips has released its Flash Ultrasound System 5100 POC, a point-of-care (POC) ultrasound engineered for anesthesia, critical care, emergency medicine, and musculoskeletal imaging.

Flash 5100 POC marries image clarity, smart automation, and touchscreen controls in a portable system to support quick, confident decisions for users of all experience levels. It features encounter-based workflow to let clinicians perform and document exams in real time and without waiting for formal orders.

Philips’ Future Health Index 2025 global report showed 33% of patients surveyed have experienced worsening health because of delays in seeing a doctor, and over one in four land in the hospital due to long wait times. Point-of-care ultrasound is becoming vital as healthcare systems encounter pressure from staff shortages, rising patient volumes, and the need for faster, more flexible care delivery.

Flash 5100 POC touts built-in support for Philips’ Collaboration Live tele-ultrasound tool, as well. This way, clinicians can connect remotely with colleagues in real-time to share screens, images, and guidance instantly.

The POC ultrasound also features future-ready software and cross-transducer compatibility, the company said. It integrates with Philips’ POC ecosystem, which includes Lumify and the Compact 5000 Series.

Earlier this month, the company received CE mark approval for its latest SmartCT image reconstruction solution, SmartCT 3.0. The tech aims to support quicker, more informed decisions in treatment of stroke and other neurovascular conditions.
